Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is a city that can satisfy even the most demanding visitors. Covering 150 acres of land, it’s one of the largest parks in Europe and it will offer you playful and relaxing moments in a friendly and refreshing environment.

Mount Olympus

It is from Litohoro that hikers usually start their way to “conquer” Mount Olympus. Crossing the valley of Enippea, they arrive at "Prionia," at an altitude of 1100 meters. On the highland of "Mousson," at an elevation of 2600 meters, there are shelters you can rest in. There are many marked routes with rest areas and fountains where hikers can relax and enjoy great views and the beautiful nature all around them.

Platamona Castle - Village of Ancient Panteleimon (Palaios Panteleimon)

The traditional village of Palaios Panteleimon is situated 25 kilometers from Paralia at an altitude of 600.  By walking through traditional cobblestone paths visitors reach the center of the village where they find the church of Saint Panteleimon and the Town Square.  All throughout and along this route there are traditional cafes and taverns where you can stop and enjoy the magnificent view overlooking the Thermaikos Gulf.  Here you can also practice hang gliding and paragliding.

 

Vergina

The capital of the ancient Macedonian state called Aegae is located in this region.  The tomb of King Philip II, father of Alexander the Great and king of the Macedonians, was discovered in Vergina.  In the Vergina archaeological site visitors can find Royal Tombs, the Palace and the Ancient Theatre.  The Archaeological Museum houses finds from the Macedonian age, such as the golden shrine of Philip II, the gold wreath of Philip II, the gold crown and the urn of Alexander IV, son of Alexander.

Dion

Twenty-five kilometers away from Paralia and laying at the foothills of Mount Olympus, one can find the Ancient village of Dion, the sacred city of Macedonians where celebrations were held dedicated to Zeus and the Muses during ancient times, the “Olympian games of Dion,” and where the temple of Olympian Zeus was located.  It is worth visiting the archaeological site and the Archaeological Museum.

Meteora

The Meteora are a rare geological phenomenon and simultaneously one of the largest monastic ensembles in Greece.  The vertical and cut rock pillars reach an altitude of up to 400 meters and cover an area of thirty kilometers.  In this area there are 24 monasteries, most of which were founded in the 14th century.  Today, only six of these monasteries continue to operate.  

Meteora have been designated by the UN as a monument of World Heritage, as well as being included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
